15 online turors selected
Chennai: Fifteen candidates selected as online tutors by Tutors Worldwide (TWWI), an educational process outsourcing firm, were handed their appointment letters by the Madras University Vice Chancellor S. Ramachandran here on Monday.The candidates were chosen from 506 applicants after a rigorous selection process. Fifteen others have been shortlisted and are awaiting a final interview.According to Mahalingam Vaidyanathan, Chief Operating Officer, TWWI, the emphasis during the selection process was on English skills and school-level mathematics.Similar recruitment was also being carried out in Madurai Kamaraj University and Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.Emilda Joseph, one of the successful candidates, said she found the concept of one-to-one teaching via the internet an interesting and challenging prospect.For the moment, the students who will receive the services of the new recruits are American students in grades 4-12.However, Mr. Vaidyanathan is hopeful of entering the domestic market by the end this year.”
