Erode:The State Government, along with the Union Forest Ministry has sanctioned Rs. 567 crore for the current year to 800 villages in Tamil Nadu under the Tamil Nadu Afforestation progamme and with the funds, saplings would be planted in all tribal areas and forest regions, said N. Selvaraj, Forest Minister, at Erode recently.He was distributing certificates to rangers, foresters and watchers who had attended the refresher course organised by the Conservator of Forests, Erode. The Government had decided to increase forest cover to 27 percent by the end of 2007 and 33 percent by 2012.
