Special essay competition for students
Vellore:The Vellore Institute of Development Studies (VIDS) and the Rotary Club of Vellore Mid-Town have jointly sponsored a special essay competition for students to commemorate the diamond jubilee of India’s Independence.According to a release from P. Jegadish Gandhi, Director of VIDS, students studying in higher secondary schools, colleges and universities in the district are eligible to participate in the competition.The contest is being held on the theme ‘Sixty Years of Indian Economic Independence: Achievements and Challenges’.The essay should discuss the performance, problems and perspectives of the Indian economy over 60 years.A ‘select references’ section should be added at the end of the essay.The essay should be in English or Tamil, and the length of the essay should be approximately 5,000 words.Joint authorship of the essay will not be allowed.All essays must by typed in double space on one side of the paper only and must be submitted in duplicate with the full name and address of the participant.The essays must be attested by the Registrar, Principal, Head of the Department, Headmaster or Headmistress of the respective institution.The best three essay entries in each category will be awarded prizes and certificates at a regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Vellore Mid-Town to be held in the last week of August at Hotel Riverview, Vellore.
All essays must be sent to P.
