Legal awareness camp organised in Nagercoil
Nagercoil: A legal awareness camp organised by Rural Uplift Centre in cooperation with Kanyakumari district Legal Services Authority and Rural Women Development Society evoked good response on Friday.The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Balasubramaniam, said that it was the bounden duty of the Legal Aid Centre to deliver justice to the poor and down trodden.Gone were the days when the poor people had to spent long time to get justice. Now the judiciary was knocking at the doors of the poor in order to render justice to them, he said.
Moreover, with an intention to creating an awareness among the rural public of legal aids rendered by the Government this camp was organised with like-minded non-governmental organisations, he said.The secretary of Rural Uplift Center, A. Marya James, said that crime against women (domestic violence) was increasing day by day. Later, the Chief Judicial Magistrate released handbills containing acts and regulations.The Additional Collector, Bhaskaran, Principal Sub-Judge, Sivakumar, Additional Superintendent of Police, Muthusumamy, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Chandra Paul, and others participated in the programme.
