In order to boost exports, Tamil Nadu Government has decided to set up apparel parks so that produce of apparel manufacturing units can meet the international standards.
After developing Tirupur apparel park, Government is concentrating on the Irungattukottai apparel park in Chennai, which is to host manufacturing units of several international companies.
The apparel park is coming up within the industrial complex of State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamilnadu (SIPCOT) in association with Apparel and Handloom Exporters Association (AHEA) with an estimated cost of around Rs24 crore.
Among 30 units, three players have already started their production process and seven units have started construction activities.
A big textile house from Sri Lanka and one from Dubai are coming to the park.
