Arrangemnets for golden jubilee celebrations

As regards the traffic arrangements, Joint Commissioner-Traffic Sunil Kumar said 15,000 vehicles are expected to arrive in the city from Friday noon.Vehicles on Old Mahabalipuram Road will be allowed to take a right at the junction of Sardar Patel Road towards Kamarajar Salai via Greenways Road, South Canal junction, Foreshore Estate bypass road and move towards service road behind Light House.Vehicles on ECR will be diverted at Akkarai check-post to join OMR at Sholinganallur. Vehicles coming on the GST Road will be diverted at Peerkankaranai/Mudichur road junction and go via Tambaram-Velachery Road up to Vijay Nagar bus stand. From there, they will join OMR at SRP Tools junction.Vehicles coming on the NH-4 from Kancheepuram would proceed towards Memorial Hall alighting point via the same route as those vehicles coming from GST Road at Maduravoyal bypass junction.Vehicles coming from Chennai-Tiruvallur High Road joining at Wheels India point would proceed towards Konnur High Road-Otteri Bridge-Sydenhams Road-Perambur Barracks Road-Doveton-Hunters Road-Choolai High Road to reach Kannappar Thidal parking and alighting points.
Mr Kumar said special traffic regulations would be in force in the city depending on the requirements of VVIP movement. Efforts have been made to provide links to various parts of the city without affecting the traffic flow.He said motorists may use the following roads: TTK Salai: Royapettah High Road-G.P.Road-Anna Salai-Dams Road-Gandhi Irwin Bridge-EVR Salai; EVR Salai: New Avadi Road connecting North-West Chennai; 100 feet road: Kodambakkam High Road-Arcot Road; Ega Point: Chetpet-Sterling Point-Sterling Road-Mahalingapuram Road-North Usman Road-Venkatnarayana Road to join Anna Salai; Egmore High Road: Pantheon Road-Greams Point-College Road-Haddows Road-Nungambakkam High Road-Valluvarkottam High Road-Thirumalai Pillai Road-Vani Mahal-Venkat Narayana Road-Nandanam.
