Acquisition of land soon

Mr. Vachchani did not foresee any major problem in the acquisition process as a major portion of the land belonged to the Government. The Corporation would have to acquire about 2,426 square metres of land from private parties and take over about 14,287 square metres of Government land.The foundation stone for the new link road, to come up at an estimated cost of Rs.3.20 crore, was laid by the Local Administration Minister, M.K. Stalin, recently.Mr. Vachchani also said that the district had performed well in the execution of development schemes. Nearly 95 per cent of the 1,573 houses sanctioned for the district during 2006-07 were handed over to the beneficiaries. All the regular work taken up under Sampoorna Gramin Rozgar Yojana during the year had also been completed.
About 15 works were pending and would be completed soon. All works taken up under Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam would be completed shortly.Under the fourth phase of the distribution of free two-acre land scheme, about 567 landless beneficiaries would be given a total of 892.95 acres in the district. So far about 30,596 free colour television sets had been distributed in the district.Out of the 45,331 sets ordered for the district, 42,531 had been received. Free LPG connections had been provided to 11,433 beneficiaries so far out of the allotment of 11,691 for the district.
