Free land distributed
Erode: Those who have benefited from Government schemes should not misuse the same, said the Handlooms and Textiles Minister, N.K.K.P. Raja, at Sathyamangalam on Sunday while distributing free lands to 153 persons.The Minister said in the last six months in Erode district, 1,543 acres of land worth Rs. 7 crore had been granted to 1,509 landless poor. Similarly, thousands of people were provided with colour television sets and LPG connections. The Minister urged those who had received free lands to develop the same by cultivating crops and use the produce for their own needs or sell it. He appealed to the beneficiaries not to keep the lands barren.He told those who had received LPG connections to use the same properly.They should not pledge it or sell it. The Government was fulfilling all its election promises and was keen to introduce more schemes for the the poor.The Collector, T. Udhaychandran, said the Agriculture Department had already tested the soil in the lands, which were granted to the people. The beneficiaries can approach the Agriculture Department officials and get advice about crops.LAs L.P. Dharmalingam and O. Subramaniam, District Chairman of the Panchayat Council S.
