Katpadi taluk infra facilites next year

Vellore: A taluk headquarters hospital, a law college, courts with a sub-jail and a land development bank will be established in Katpadi taluk next year, according to Public Works Department Minister Durai Murugan.Laying the foundation for the new building of the Katpadi taluk office at Kilithanpattarai on Sunday, Mr. Durai Murugan said that the building for the Tiruvalluvar University, Vellore, would be inaugurated in Katpadi taluk this year itself.

The office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Katpadi, a traffic police office and a new building for the Katpadi fire station would all come up on the premises, where the new taluk office was to be built.Work on the construction of a new bridge across the Palar would begin soon with funds from the Centre, while the old bridge would be converted into a four-lane bridge, for which the concurrence has been obtained from the Union Minister for National Highways T. R. Baalu. The Katpadi-Gudiyatham Road would be converted into a four-lane road, he added.The PWD Minister said that he would ensure that adequate funds from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development would be allotted to Katpadi for construction of school buildings this year.


Mr. Durai Murugan directed the PWD and revenue authorities to ensure that the work on the taluk office building was completed within a year.More land was required for the purpose, he said, and therefore requested those, who had encroached upon poromboke land near the site, to voluntarily hand over the same to the Government to avoid legal action. The new taluk office building in Katpadi would be a model for a taluk office throughout the State, he said.Revenue Minister I. Periyasamy asked the authorities to issue pattas liberally to the poor, ensuring that water bodies are protected in the process.


Vellore Collector Dharmendra Pratap Yadav requested the Minister to ensure that the taluk office building was designed with all amenities for the employees and the public with an aesthetic appeal. A. Suganthi, District Revenue Officer, Vellore welcomed. Later, Mr. Durai Murugan and Mr. Periyasamy distributed welfare assistance to 14 beneficiaries. Assistance worth Rs.12 crores was distributed to 1,642 beneficiaries.
