Tuticorin: A major fire was reported in the conveyor belt section of the Tuticorin Port here on Monday.Official sources said the fire was first noticed at around 8.15 a.m. on the conveyor belt used for carrying coal from the Coal Jetty situated inside the port to Tuticorin Thermal Power Station situated a few km away.Seven water tenders – three belonging to the Tuticorin Port Trust, two from the Thermal Power Station, and one each from the Heavy Water Plant of the Department of Atomic Energy and SPIC – were pressed into service.
