Dindugal:Health workers spraying anti-malaria spray at Dindigul railway station on Monday.Health officials of Southern Railway have started campaigning among passengers at Dindigul railway station on precautions against chickungunya, a viral fever, here on Monday.A team of doctors gave tips to passengers on how to protect themselves from the viral fever. A similar campaign was also on among Railway staff and their family members.
Passengers and Railway staff were advised to clean overhead tanks, earthen pots, cement tanks and all water storing structures and vessels periodically. They were told to maintain the area around the house dry and clean.They also explained the symptoms of the disease. Doctors intensified the campaign on Malaria fever.Meanwhile, Railway health unit workers sprayed pesticide on stagnated water and near toilets and on tracks to contain spreading malaria. Doctors P. Velusamy and K. Jagadeesh Kumar briefed the passengers about chickungunya and malaria.An exhibition was held at the railway station.
