Tirunellvali:Cadres of the CITU being arrested in Tirunelveli on Monday. A total of 155 members of the CITU, including 17 women, were arrested when they tried to block traffic near the Junction here on Monday.The protestors said the village panchayat overhead tank operators and the conservancy workers should be given time-scale pay and their salary be given from the general funds of the civic body besides ensuring provident fund, gratuity and pension facilities.They said the village panchayat presidents should not be authorised to terminate the conservancy workers and others from their job.The protestors were released in the evening.
