HCL & KM team opened its Development Center !
HCL Technologies (HCLT), one of India’s leading software exporters, has opened an offshore development centre in Chennai in partnership with Japan’s Konica Minolta Group (KM). The centre will provide software services for KM’s multi function peripherals (MFPs), printers and medical equipment business lines. HCL’s Japan Business Units based in Chennai and Noida will provide the necessary support for fulfilling this partnership. HCL will develop software for Konica Minolta’s products to be distributed in the global market. Mr Selvatharasu Sadagoparamanujam, president and representative director, HCL Japan, said, “After foraying into the US and other geographies, Japan is the next market that HCL is looking on to sign partnerships. We expect around $30-million worth of business in 3 years through this deal with KM. This partnership with KM is a perfect fit in our life sciences (equipment) strategy and will boost our new microvertical for printers and MFPs.” Through this contract, extendible thereafter, the five business companies of KM will outsource product engineering work to HCL. Initially, the centre has about 50 employees, but it is to be increased to 240 by the end of this financial year. “The partnership is a milestone in the growing co-operation between Konica Minolta and HCL in the last three years . The Chennai Centre will play an important role in securing necessary software services for us”, said Mr Masatoshi Matsuzaki, president, Konica Minolta Technology Centre, and executive director, Konica Minolta Holdings.
