669 new family cards distributed

Dharmapuri: A total of 4,401 new family cards were received from ELCOT and about 669 cards distributed to cardholders at Harur taluk.A total of 30,086 applications were received from the public in Dharmapuri district seeking new family cards. Of them as many as 15,349 applications were rejected on various grounds, said Collector Pankaj Kumar Bansal here on Thursday.The distribution of new family cards to cardholders in Dharmapuri, Pennagaram, Harur, Palacode and Pappireddipatti taluks is underway.


The Collector said that free LPG gas stoves and connections were distributed to as many as 5,039 beneficiaries in Dharmapuri district as against the target of 6,432 in the current fiscal. Gas stoves and connections would be provided to all eligible beneficiaries shortly.The district administration has expedited the process of issuing scholarships to all eligible students. The Collector directed officials concerned to immediately provide community certificates to SSLC and Plus-Two students in Dharmapuri district.
