MBBS/BDS courses application issued

Salem: Students and parents waiting at the Salem Government Medical College on Monday to get application forms for MBBS/BDS courses. The issue of application forms for the MBBS/BDS and three-year higher speciality courses (MCH/DM) has begun at the Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College here on Monday.

According to dean in-charge V. Kanagasabai, the forms can be obtained from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all days of the week. "More than 400 forms have been sold on the first day," he said.The forms for MBBS and BDS courses can be obtained till June 15 and for higher speciality courses till June 6.

The cost of the application for MBBS/BDS is Rs. 500 and for each special category (physically handicapped, children of freedom fighters, children of ex-servicemen and eminent sports persons) the cost is Rs. 100. The cost of application for higher speciality courses is Rs. 2,000.Candidates could obtain demand draft, bankers cheque and bank payment order from any nationalised bank. The demand draft should be drawn in favour of the Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai - 10. For candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes, the forms are issued free of cost. The candidates should produce two attested photocopies of community certificate to get the forms.

Candidates applying under special category should submit the special category application along with the common application, he said. More information can be obtained from the college.Mr. Kanagasabai said that the college had started offering the MD Paediatric course from this academic year.
