12 Hours Bandh at Coimbatore -Today

An all-party 12-hour bandh in Tamil Nadu's textile town of Coimbatore.
Educational institutions are closed, buses and autos are off the roads and shops have shut for the day. Tamil Nadu wants Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode to be included in the Salem Railway Division.
The Kerala government however, wants these areas to be retained in its Palakkad division. Tamil Nadu has accused Kerala of trying to stall the formation of the Salem division as it's a high revenue earner.
Meanwhile TN Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has written to Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav to expedite the formation of the Salem rail division.
