Warehousing complex @ Koodalnagar railway stn

Madurai:A warehousing complex constructed on a 5-acre land with a capacity of 12,000 tonnes is coming up at the Koodalnagar railway station, near the city.A joint venture between the Ministry of Railways and Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), the project is expected to propel the freight traffic in Madurai division. The complex is likely to become operational by October. It is one among the 23 centres identified under a project to give a boost to freight traffic in the country.

According to Mr M. Suyambulingam, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, the complex would take care of the needs of traders in the southern districts. A controlled temperature mechanism has been developed to ensure the quality and quantity of the goods stored. CWC would be providing logistical support for the railways, he added.
