Tirunelveli: Sri Sakthi Hospitals, which is running eleven accident relief centres on highways in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts, plans to open its 12th facility with ambulance at Maanur, about 16 km from here, on the highway to Sankarankoil.The Superintendent of Police, Tirunelveli, N.K. Senthamaraikannan, would inaugurate the facility at 7.30 a.m. on June 10, the chief doctor of Sri Sakthi Hospitals, S. Venkatesh Babu, said here on Saturday evening.
Apart from equipping the ambulances with all required facilities, including cervical collar and leg splint, drivers of these emergency vehicles had been trained in dealing with accident victims, he added."They've been thoroughly trained in diagnosing fracture, the technicalities involved in shifting the injured children and the aged from the accident spot, rushing them to the hospital within the `golden hour,' maintaining and using equipment in the ambulance," said Dr. Venkatesh Babu.He has designed and developed the Rs. 850-worth aluminium leg splint, weighing about 1 kg.Public can call 94863 10000 to avail the ambulance facility free of cost, he said.
