Kuzhuthurai to get Rs.1 cr. filter house

Nagercoil: The Government had been implementing various welfare and development activities for the benefit of the poor and the downtrodden in the district, said the Tourism Minister, N. Suresh Rajan.Laying the foundation stone for setting up of a Rs.1.04-crore filter house at Kuzhuthurai on Sunday, the Minister said that the Government has waived loans to the tune of Rs.12 crore, which had been spent for the implementation of various development works in Nagercoil, Padmanabhapuram, Colachel and Kuzhuthurai municipalities.

The Department of Highways had already taken steps to lay four lane roads from Aralvoimozhi to Thiruvananthapuram in an effort to ease traffic congestion in Nagercoil town limits.Later, he laid foundation stone for the implementation of a integrated drinking water project at the total estimated cost of Rs10.18 lakh at Chenbagaramanputhur.The district administration distributes 20 litres of potable water to the residents of Agasthiyar Colony and Pulianvilai Colony in Madavalayam panchayats.

With an intention to provide 35 litres, it has been decided to implement a drinking water scheme at a cost of Rs.4.06 lakh at Agasthiar Colony and Rs.6.12 lakh at Pulianvilai in Madavalayam panchayat.Two overhead tanks with a total capacity of 10,000 litres at Agasthiyar Colony and 30,000 litres at Pulianvilai would be constructed.The works would be completed within two months, the Minister said.
