Salem:The Salem Corporation conducted a public grievances redressal meeting here on Monday.Mayor J. Rekha Priyadarshini, presiding over the meeting, received petitions seeking drinking water, drainage, toilet and other amenities from the public. She assured the petitioners that their grievances would be redressed quickly.
Later, addressing a press conference, the Mayor said that the civic body would conduct grievances redressal meetings on every Monday. The meetings would be held from 10.30 a.m.to 12.30 p.m. The Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Corporation Commissioner and senior officials of the civic body would be present in these meetings. She called upon the people to attend the meetings to express their grievances. The Mayor also said that the solid waste management project of the civic body would be implemented quickly. A 100-acre site had been identified for the establishment of a modern compost yard in Chettichavadi. A consultant would soon be appointed to prepare the project report.
