Certificate courses in Music School began
Salem:Admissions for the three-year certificate courses in Government Music School began recently.According to a press release, persons aged between 12 and 25 are eligible to join the following courses offered by the school: Vocal, Devaram, Bharathanatyam, Violin, Miruthangam, Nathaswaram and Thavil. Persons who can read and write in Tamil are eligible to join Nathaswaram and Thavil courses. For other courses, the minimum qualification is a pass in Standard VII.Those who have completed any one of these courses can join the three-month music teacher course. Sankararaman, Headmaster, Government Music School, Sarada College Road, Fairlands, Salem - 16.The Salem district unit of Janata Dal (Secular) has urged the Salem Corporation to ensure supply of protected drinking water to the residents.A press release from district president G. Velayutham said that many areas in the city were being supplied with water mixed with mud for the past several days. Foul smell emanates from the water. The supply of contaminated water would lead to outbreak of diseases. The party members blamed the Corporation officials for not initiating any serious steps to clean the overhead water tanks frequently.A resolution in this regard was passed at a meeting of the unit.In another resolution, the party members urged the State Government to control the price of eggs. The price of egg had gone up to Rs. 2 in the retail shops recently, the release said.
